Each poem is an original piece written by me, printed on paper that is able to be planted. My hope is that once you’re ready to part ways with the poem, you can plant it and turn it into something completely new and beautiful.
This seed paper is 100% recycled and handmade cotton paper embedded with a mix of lavender seeds. Instructions on how to properly care for your seed paper plant are included with each poem.
WHAT IS A SEED PAPER POEM?
STEP 1: PREPARE YOUR POT
Fill your pot 2/3 full with good potting soil. Tamp down the soil and add more if necessary. You want the pot to be firmly full, but not packed. The paper can be planted indoors or outdoors, so you get to choose according to the temperature and conditions at the time of planting.
STEP 2: PLANT THE PAPER
Take your plantable paper and cover the paper in the prepared pot with the soil. Spread a 1/8" layer of soil over the seed paper and tamp down gently.
STEP 3: WATER DURING GERMINATION
After planting the paper in your pot, give it a good soak. You want the soil and the paper to be nicely damp but not swimming in water. During the first 10 days, keep the paper moist at all times.
STEP 4: CARE AFTER GERMINATION
Once sprouts appear, continue to keep the paper moist but be careful not to over water. Once plants appear, water as needed.
